Construction Updates
Nashua - Merrimack - Bedford 13761
Project 13761A
F. E. Everett Turnpike (FEET) NB and SB between 8 (Somerset Parkway) and Exit 10 (Industrial Drive)
This project will widen the Turnpike from two to three lanes in each direction. The construction work includes pavement widening and reconstruction, replacement of the bridges over Pennichuck Brook, median rehabilitation, overhead sign structure replacements, inclusion of ITS infrastructure, construction of stormwater quality treatment facilities, and the removal of the tunnel located under the FEET at Exit 10. Project completion is scheduled for May 2028.
Recent Activities (as of early September 2026)
Southbound
- Construction of Drainage Basin 871 is nearing completion, and the installation of the low permeability fill is done.
Northbound
- Median and temporary drainage has been installed.
- Paving has been completed in preparation of placing traffic in Phase 4 configuration.
Exit 10
- Barrier has been removed and slopes loamed along the NB Off Ramp.
- Curb removal and installation of the Phase 4 temporary diversion has begun at the SB On Ramp.
Pennichuck Brook Bridge
- No recent activity.
Upcoming Work (September 2026 to October 2026)
Southbound
- Completion of Drainage Basin 871.
- Switching traffic to Phase 4 configuration.
- Pavement removal, drainage, and earthwork will begin once traffic has been shifted.
Northbound
- Switching traffic to Phase 4 configuration.
Exit 10
- Finish installing the Phase 4 diversion and begin pavement removal, tunnel demolition, and drainage work.
Pennichuck Brook Bridge
- Pavement removal and bridge demolition will begin.
General Traffic Implications
Fall 2026
- Rolling roadblocks, shoulder closures and night work, as needed, for temporary roadwork, as traffic allows.
- Rolling roadblocks and short-term ramp closures will be required to shift traffic to Phase 4 TCP.
